James gives us some of his top tips in The Kitchen, so if you can’t make the day, make the most of what he has to say when it comes to cooking.

Celebrity Chef James Martin’s new cookery classes at ‘The Kitchen’ will guide you through all the best culinary tips and tricks. Chewton Glen has just released the fourth date of the season that James Martin will be back in The Kitchen to grace us with his cookery knowledge and fun charisma. On August 8th James is returning to the ovens and his menu designed this time around really has the coast in mind and with all the delicious local seafood produce we have access to, it’s clear to see why he’s making the most of it. Cook Scallop Ravioli with Seared Scallops & White Wine Cream Sauce followed by a very summery Strawberry Meringue Roulade when you come to the cookery school at The Kitchen in a fortnight.

James gives us some of his top tips in The Kitchen, so if you can’t make the day, make the most of what he has to say when it comes to cooking.

1. Roast Chicken dinners are the easiest yet delicious meals, baste it with maple syrup and grain mustard to achieve a much more gourmet home-made Nandos!

2. The ‘go to’ pudding would have to be waffles, get your gloves on a waffle iron and warm, delicious puddings couldn’t be tastier. Make them savoury by mixing chopped bacon in the batter or chuck it on top with a dollop of maple syrup for a sweet & savoury combination!

3. If you’re baking with little ones try a red velvet cake but cull the food colouring or else sleep won’t be happening for a fortnight, use red icing paste instead to get the vibrant scarlet effect! For the chocolate sponge use cola, throw it in and the acid will react with your baking powder causing it to rise.

4. Slow cooking is the best way to cook, minimal effort, maximum taste.

He’s attended our recent #SunsetCinema series with Rick Stein and Pop-Up Picture Company. This has been a fantastic fortnight of films & food on our lawns during the height of summer. Al fresco movie nights never tasted better! Continuing on the theme of movie stars, USA teen sensation Selena Gomez’s favourite Italian restaurant The Gritti Palace is coming to The Kitchen in the form of Executive Chef Daniele Turco. Daniele will be crossing borders from his iconic work setting to join us on Wednesday 18th October to spend the day teaching guests how to cook the greatest authentic Venetian cuisine. If you don’t fancy getting messy with spaghetti then you could choose to dine around the Chef’s table which seats an intimate yet friendly number of twelve, where Daniele will be serving up the very best food for you along with paired wines… Molto Delizioso!

Chewton Glen’s casual eatery The Kitchen, launched at the beginning of April in collaboration with James Martin. We’ve seen some fantastic creations being conjured up in the cookery school, as many guests have been making the most of the warmer weather by dining Al Fresco in the adjoining restaurant. The beautiful greenhouse has attracted a lot of interest to many Al Fresco diners or chefs using the herbs in the cookery classes and our expansive range of cookery courses have been inspiring guests who are looking to take to the ovens! If you haven’t already, and you’d like to think you could give the competitors a run for their money in Bake Off, start by getting the dough balls rolling here!

Chewton Glen captures what people love about the New Forest; the outdoors, the beautiful wildlife, the opportunity for activities, the coastal location and of course local organic produce that tastes divine. Whether you’re looking to dine here for a special occasion or cook your own delicious dishes in our cookery school, it really is every foodie’s heaven.
